A small amount of malt extract and steviol glycosides (an extract derived from the stevia plant) has been added to Fiber Syrup Gold. It has a darker colour, a rich flavor and sweetness. Fiber Syrup Gold is a healthier alternative to honey and syrup, and is ideal over pancakes, with yogurt, oatmeal, berries, ice cream and desserts.

Isomalto-oligosaccharide is a prebiotic plant fiber, which is found naturally in foods such as honey, soy sauce and sake. It tastes sweet, but behaves like fiber in the body. Instead of increasing the blood sugar syrup as commonly does, isomalto-oligosaccharides are food for the good bacteria in the digestive system. It is called a prebiotic fiber. In the body there are more bacteria than cells, and bacteria do an important job. By eating prebiotic fiber you stimulate the good bacteria which have important functions in the body, while the bad bacteria (such as e.coli) is suppressed.
All types of fiber can result in temporary problems with digestion such as air and loose stools, but IMO fiber has been found to be an exception. It is one of the types which gives minimum problems.
